Through his work Monahan has been building towards his philosophy, a continuation of Existentialist thought done by the likes of Camus, Sartre and Nietzsche, one he has coined 'Relationism'. This is, at its core, a theory that supposes that reality itself does not possess an ultimate meaning, or at least that it is impossible to know if there is one; however things in life still feel deeply meaningful, this is through relation. No single thing possess meaning, instead meaning emerges through relationships, between people, nature and life itself. In order to observe this meaning, one must be maximally attentive and engaged in reality; fully feeling, fully living, fully observing. There are many aspects to this philosophy, which the in progress Poetry collection by Monahan is working on. Essays about this philsoophy, and more information on it, will be put here over time.
